TA WRESTLING WINS 12TH CONSECUTIVE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP

The Knights traveled to Harrisonburg High School Wednesday night and won the Massanutten District Championship in convincing fashion.
9 Knights won individual titles.
At 103 Jacob Michael secured a fall in the finals by locking up a cradle midway through the second period.
At 119 Mitch Thomas earned a hard fought overtime victory over his opponent from Broadway in the finals.
Luke Kiser at 125 dominated a state qualifier from Harrisoburg in the finals winning by technical fall - 19-4.
Will Zigler followed this win with another technical fall in the 130 pound finals by winning 23-8. It was the third individual title for Will.
Lupe Delgado at 135 pounds also won by technical fall, 20-5, against his opponent from Spotswood.
Justin Carpenter, 140 pounds, captured a workmanlike 6-2 decision over a state qualifier from Broadway.
Alex Collins, 152 pounds, became a four time district champion with a 19-3 technical fall.
Jacob Liskey, 171 pounds, won a solid decision 5-1 over his opponent from Broadway.
The heavyweight final brought the crowd to their feet as Michael Laprade defeated a previously unbeaten wrestler from Harrisonburg. The match ended in a 2-1 score in Michael's favor.
5 other Knights placed in the event securing spots in the upcoming regional championships. Donnie Price (145) and Josh Powers (160) both finished second in their respective weight classes. Jared Bell (112), Shawn Dean (189) and Marcus Farrall (215) all finished third after early losses.
The Knights return to action at the regional tournament being held at Turner Ashby High School.
